Lessons
Chess Haven's chess tutors are ivy league educated, certified by the United States Chess Federation, and have hundreds of hours of teaching experience. Our tutors are based in the New Haven, Connecticut area and in the New York City area, but we are accepting students of any age from any location. Lessons will take place online. Our tutors can also teach group chess lessons and chess classes at school programs. All proceeds benefit Chess Haven, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to spreading the educational benefits of chess.

JAKE WANG
Jake is a student at Yale University and is a Certified Chess Coach and Tournament Director with 9 years of teaching and competitive tournament experience. He is a USCF chess expert and a FIDE Arena chess grandmaster (top 1% of competitive chess players). He teaches students of all ages, but particularly specializes in teaching elementary school students, as he published two Common-Core Aligned Chess Curricula used in 250 elementary schools in over 20 countries and all U.S. states. He placed 1st in the U.S. Chess Scholastic Championships and represented the United States at the 2019 North American Youth Championships in Canada and at the 2019 World Youth Chess Championship in India.
He also offers college admissions preparation: ACT/SAT prep, consultations, essay editing, interview preparation, AP prep, etc. He was admitted into Yale, Princeton, Brown, Georgetown, and UVA.
